The Night Before Presentation Day: A Last-Minute Gift Plan

Presentation day gets scheduled months out and remembered about four days before. If that is where you are, the good news is that a late order does not have to mean a worse gift. It means being deliberate about two things: what can still be personalised in time, and what is worth skipping entirely.

Start with what can still be made

Engraved metal and printed ceramic move fastest through the workshop because the personalisation happens on a finished product. Bags with stitched name panels take longer. If your deadline is inside a week, sort your shortlist by production method rather than by price.

It also helps to reduce the number of different products in one order. Twelve of the same bottle with twelve different names is a single production run. Twelve different products is twelve setups, and setups are what eat the calendar.

One product, twelve names beats twelve products every time you are short on days.

Get the names right the first time

Most delays are not production delays, they are approval delays. Send the full list in one message, spelled the way it should appear, including nicknames and jersey numbers. If a name has an apostrophe or an accent, flag it. A single round of proofing turns a five-day job into a three-day job.

Skip the wrapping theatre

A personalised piece does its own work. Ribbon, tissue and a card that gets read once add cost and, more importantly, add handling time. Spend the budget on the product tier instead: a heavier bottle or a better bag reads as more considered than any amount of packaging.

What to do if you have run out of time

Order the piece anyway and hand over a printed card on the night that shows the proof of what is coming. Nobody has ever been disappointed to learn a gift with their name on it is in production. It buys you a week and keeps the moment intact.
